As artistic director of Rosebud Theatre, Morris sits at the helm of Rosebud’s theatre department. His 35 year career in the theatre includes design and/or directing credits at The Stratford Festival, The National Arts Centre, The Royal Alexandra Theatre, The Canadian Opera Company, Vancouver Opera, The Citadel Theatre, Manitoba Theatre Centre, The Blyth Festival, Workshop West, Phoenix Theatre, Northern Light Theatre, and Chemainus Theatre Festival.

Rosebud Theatre directorial highlights include The Road to Mecca; Freud's Last Session; My Name is Asher Lev; Mary's Wedding; Our Town; Fiddler on the Roof; Anne of Green Gables; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; The Christians and Doubt. He also performed the role of Morrie in Rosebud Theatre's Tuesdays with Morrie.

Notable credits at Vancouver's Pacific Theatre include the critically acclaimed productions of Espresso (seven Jessie Award nominations including Best Production), Master Harold....and the boys (Jessie Award nominations for Best Production and Best Direction), Hospitality Suite and St. Joan (all earning Jessie Award nominations).

He conceived and co-wrote Tent Meeting, a musical which has seen numerous productions in Canada and the United States. Tent Meeting earned four Dora Award nominations in Toronto including Best New Musical and Best Production, as well as a Sterling Award nomination for Best Musical in Edmonton.

He is also recipient of nine other Sterling Awards, and a Dora Mavor More Award for his design of the Canadian Opera Company's production of Beatrice et Benedict. Mr. Ertman is a lover of story and music and has written and performed for Stereo Alive in their chamber music performance of Haydn's The Last Seven Words of Christ as well as an Alberta touring production with actor/singer Cassia Schramm of his story Above Bethlehem. He also conceived and co-wrote the Christmas musical May and Joe. Mr. Ertman was named in Theatre 100, a listing of 100 people who have made a significant contribution to Alberta's Theatre in the last century. He is the recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award from Taylor University College.
