Programme Description
Some people have an untapped desire to explore a life in the arts. Others only feel fully alive when they’re expressing what’s important to them. If you’ve got inspiration bubbling over and you’re searching for a place to explore it, you are welcome in Rosebud to discover a life of Spirit-filled creativity and artistic expression.
The Certificate Programme gives you the essentials you need to pursue professional training in the performing arts. With a full schedule of theoretical and practical classes, you develop necessary skills in acting, movement/dance, speech, music, script analysis, visual interpretation, and theatre production, and you explore Christian traditions as expressed through the arts.
You’ll gain an honest understanding of your personal gifts and talents. Upon successful completion, you will be prepared to pursue further training in a specialization of your choice and calling.
Workshops at the West Coast
The annual West Coast Theatre Trip introduces you to some of the theatre that happens in western Canada, with an emphasis on Christian-oriented theatre companies, such as Pacific Theatre, Panic Squad, and The Chemainus Theatre Festival. You participate in workshops with theatre professionals and attend shows at a wide variety of different theatre companies. In addition, you’ll explore alternative styles of worship, tour art galleries, and have the opportunity to build deeper, more meaningful relationships with other students and RSA staff.
Credentials
Upon graduation, students receive a “Certificate in Theatre Foundations.”
Transferability
Certificate classes are equivalent to those of first-year college or university, although they are generally more practical and hands-on than university classes. Some courses transfer to universities and colleges in Alberta and elsewhere.
