			Rosebud Summer Art Intensive August 3-12, 2012 Welcome to the 2nd annual Rosebud Summer Art Intensive. Spend 9 days in Rosebud perfecting your art in mediums of your choice: drawing in pencil and charcoal, painting in acrylic, oil, and watercolour. Artists at any level of development are invited to come to the thriving arts community of Rosebud to hone their skills in through practical studio training with professional artists. Focus on the materials and subject matter that interest you most – although you have a chance to experiment with all mediums. Enjoy personalized instruction and the community of like-minded individuals seeking to express their creativity at a higher level. The course is open to all participants of high-school school age and older. No previous background required. Approach We believe in teaching artists to see, to respond to life, and to develop their unique voice – not to merely imitate one's favourite artist or technique. Our desire is to equip artists with independent skills and confidence so they can continue produce quality work on their own. Visiting art galleries in Rosebud and in Calgary will deepen participants’ appreciation of artistic quality and inform their own art production. Participants learn from each other as well as from their instructors. Instruction is focussed on the individual artist and developing each participant's interests and abilities. Artists at all levels of development are welcome. Each has something to learn and each has something to contribute.
			Instructors Randall Wiebe: lead instructor in drawing and painting Randall Wiebe is a veteran instructor in art, photography and drama and a freelance graphic designer and photographer. His own work focuses on figurative and portrait paintings and large-scale commissions for churches. Randall has taught visual art for Rosebud School of the Arts, Rocky Mountain College, the Central Alberta home school consortium, Canadian Badlands Passion Play, and art camps as far as Japan and Malaysia. Randall believes there is an artist in everyone just looking for a means of expression. Sonja Zacharias: instructor in watercolour Sonja Zacharias is a successful artist and experienced instructor specializing in watercolor landscapes. Place Rosebud Centre of the Arts is located in a serene river valley, 1 hour northwest of Calgary. Artists first came to the hamlet in the early 1970s. It is now a model of arts tourism, renowned for its hospitality and theatre productions. The Art Intensive’s home base is in the Nodwell Building, a light filled space with views of the landscape surrounding Rosebud. The Nodwell is located at the edge of town, a 10 min. walk from the hamlet's centre. Participants will receive keys to the building so they can use the space at any time of day or night. There will be some painting in open air and exteriors around the hamlet.
